Welcome to the new home of The Cricket Inn blog! We will be regularly updating you with news from our kitchen, upcoming events, and some general chit chat of what we’re up to!

Now, what a better way to introduce this new blog than to welcome the new beautiful season we are about to enter. With the leaves already starting to turn and beginning to fall from the trees, it is clear to see that Autumn is very close by. And with the children making their way to their new classes as they start the new academic year, the nights slowly getting darker that little bit earlier, and the beginning of September looming towards us, we decided to take this time to reflect on our Summer of 2017.

It's been a busy one! And thanks to everybody that has been involved in making our summer such a success. With a real array of events; from weddings to BBQs, kid’s parties to mini festivals, the summer has been a whirlwind and the months have flown by.

Looking back to July, we held our first (and hopefully annual) gin festival. Held in our Beer Garden, our expert Gin Master, John, worked hard to serve our customers a fantastic selection of local and national gins, garnished with a mixture of botanicals to offer something a little different to our customers.

Following this, August Bank Holiday saw the return of our Dog Show, with the 2017 Cricket Inn Crufts, in which we had 12 beautiful dogs and their owners participate in a mixture of categories, from waggiest tail to a timed agility course, with our Geordie Mike acting as head judge and compare! It’s fair to say – it was a manic hour or so! But great entertainment for all involved.

This Autumn, we will be continuing the fun starting with our Seafood September, with our Mussels Festival taking place from the 4th – 8th, and our Steak and Lobster Weekend at the end of the month. We will also be launching our “Tipsy and Toasty Outdoor Snug” where customers will be able to snuggle up by fire pits, and enjoy their pint of cold Thornbridge ale, or perhaps a nice Pinot Grigio out in our Herb Garden while watching the autumnal sunsets over the cricket pitch.

A big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our customers who have visited us over the last few months. With lots of exciting plans for the rest of the year, come back and visit our blog for further information to ensure you don’t miss out!
